JOB DESCRIPTION, FUNCTIONS, AND REQUIREMENTS:

The Southern Tier 8 Regional Board is seeking to hire an Economic Development Specialist to assist the Executive Director with project development & project management efforts.  This is an exciting time for growth in the Southern Tier and in this position, you will help County & Municipal Economic Developers match their needs to funding options, and in 2023,  help draft the region's 5-year plan.  

Preferences:

  • Experience in project management, preferably programs involving state and federal grants with an understanding of broad regional economic development success.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, marketing, planning, project management, public administration or a closely related field and two years of experience in public administration, economic development, business development, planning, public relations, finance, grant writing or closely related field.

 ABOUT THE WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The position is full-time, 37.5 hours/week, and offers remote-working options. Southern Tier 8 participates in the New York State Retirement System, offers Excellus Healthcare benefits, generous paid leave, and other benefits. The position is exempt and dependent upon experience, with a 2023 annual salary of $60,000 to $73,000.

 ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

The Southern Tier 8 Regional Board is the Local Development District (LDD) for the Appalachian Regional Commission and Economic Development District (EDD) for the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration. The Regional Board administers a portfolio of regional programs and initiatives related to infrastructure, workforce development, and economic growth. The Regional Board serves the counties of Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, Schoharie, Tioga, and Tompkins in Upstate, NY.
